Neyland earn narrow win over Hundleton

NEYLAND earned their third win in four games in all competitions as they beat Hundleton 1-0 in Division 1 on Saturday (Feb 26).

Neyland had beaten St Clears in the Senior Cup last weekend and they looked to keep their momentum going.

Conditions were again tricky for both sides at a windy Athletic ground.

Possession was even and chances were coming at both ends, but in the 27th minute young Leon Barrett was put in on goal and finished well as he went around the keeper to slot home.

The score remained 1-0 to the home team until the break.

With a wind advantage in the second half and the impressive Cameron Brunton pulling the strings for the opposition, Hundleton went in search of an equaliser.

However, Neyland’s defence, and in particular the two midfielders Josh Watts and Simon Ellis, protected the goal well.

With Hundleton on the attack this gave Neyland the chance to counter and Aidan Rees was clear though on goal twice but was unable to find the back of the net and the time that he did beat the Hundleton goalkeeper he was flagged for off-side.

Hundleton thought that they had finally equalised late in the game but the goal was ruled out for offside.

Neyland held on for the last few minutes to gain another important three points.
