PEMBROKESHIRE COLLEGE student, Alfie Stottor, has been chosen to play for the Welsh Colleges Under 18s squad for next month’s Roma Caput Mundi tournament. Alfie is well known in Pembrokeshire football having played for Prendergast Villa and Haverfordwest County.

The squad has been chosen following an extensive selection process over the past four months. Head-hunted by team leaders John Garcia, Marc Lloyd Williams, and Andrew Thomas, level 2 Sports student Alfie was chosen from 24 students put forward to showcase their footballing skills in several trials.

The Welsh Colleges compete in a group against three international teams in the invitation-only tournament including Albania, Lazio and Malta in an attempt to reach the grand final on Friday 4th March.

Alfie will join the squad who, for the second year running will travel to Rome after an intensive body conditioning and training session and said that he is looking forward to the trip: “Studying level 2 Sport at College has allowed me to train and play football and I’m really excited to have the opportunity to play in an international tournament!”

Sports Lecturer and Football Co-ordinator Andrew Thomas added: “This is a unique opportunity for Alfie to experience international football competing against the best players in Europe. If all goes well, there is an opportunity to secure his place in the Under 19s Welsh Colleges squad for next season.”

Alfie is looking for sponsorship to cover the cost of the trip, please contact Andrew by email:andrewt@ pembrokeshire.ac.uk for details.
