Rain ruins Tish run-chase

ST ISHMAELS looked on course for victory against Llangwm on Saturday (June 4), before rain ended the game prematurely.

Llangwm won the toss and chose to bat and they were able to reach 190-7 from their 45 overs.

Noah Davies and Will Beresford opened up with 47 runs for the first wicket but Andrew Pawlett made the breakthrough as he trapped Davies leg before on a score of 15.

Beresford fell soon after as he was run out by Pawlett on a score of 38 (seven fours).

Luke Brock and Joe Kiff then shared 74 runs for the third wicket with Kiff reaching his half century.

Andrew Williams bowled Brock on a score of 13 and Kiff fell soon after.

He had hit seven fours and four sixes in his score of 60 from 52 balls but he was then caught by Steven Hartley off the bowling of Pawlett.

Oliver Davies added 16 before he was bowled by Williams and David Lewis was run out by Lewis Rhead, also on a score of 16.

Joe Phillips finished unbeaten on 19 as Tish were set 191 to win the game.

Karl Rhead and Andrew Palmer shared 51 runs for the first wicket but Rhead was trapped leg before on a score of 28 from 26 balls (six fours).

Andrew Palmer reached a score of 40 with six fours and a six while Brennan Devonald also hit six fours and a six in his score of 44 from 39 balls.

However, that was as far as they could go as rain brought play to a halt with Tish on 120-1.

The result gives Tish ten points while Llangwm take away eight points.

On Saturday, June 11, Llangwm host Lawrenny while St Ishmaels host Carew.
