Saundersfoot dent Cresselly’s titles hopes

SAUNDERSFOOT dented Cresselly’s title hopes on Saturday (May 21) as they earned a three-wicket win.

Cresselly’s win last weekend had taken them joint top of the table with Neyland and they had high hopes of keeping their winning run going.

They came up against a Saundersfoot side though who were in good form with wins over Pembroke Dock and Neyland over the last two weeks.

Cresselly won the toss and chose to bat first but they were soon rattled as two wickets in the first over left the hosts on 0-2.

They recovered from that but were eventually bowled out for 198. Tom Murphy scored 70 for Cresselly and Dan James added 58.

Sam Franklin took 3-20 for the visitors while Nav Kawale (2-35) and Neil Powling (2-27) also bowled well.

In reply, Franklin scored 32 and Scott Helmich added 37 and 48 from Tom Mansbridge. John Mansbridge top scored with 49 as Saundersfoot edged home in the 44th over.

On Saturday, May 28, Cresselly visit St Ishmaels while Saundersfoot host Llangwm.
