Champions: Seaside celebrate their victory in the Senior Cup

SEASIDE were crowned Carmarthenshire Senior Cup Winners on May 6 as they beat Evans and Williams 5-4 on penalties.

The game, played at Stebonheath Park, Llanelli, finished 0-0 after extra time and the game was sealed with a dramatic penalty shootout.

The sides have been closely matched throughout the season with the sides currently sitting third and fourth in the table.

The two sides met on April 22 in a league match with Evans and Williams coming out on top with a 3-2 win.

Earlier in the season Evans & Williams beat Seaside 4-1 at home and Seaside were keen to get a victory over their rivals.

It was a game with very few chances as both defences came out on top, the best chance of the first half fell to Evans and Williams but Rob Jones saw his shot well saved.

The second half was the same but Seaside’s best chance fell to Ben Honeybun who beat the keeper to a through ball only to see his effort go inches wide of the post.

Evans and Williams could have won it on the death but during a goal mouth scramble no one was on hand to put the ball in.

Extra time was played and with five minutes remaining Mark Standon saw his long range effort saved by Daz Green.

The full time whistle went with the score still at 0-0 and penalties would be needed to settle the outcome of the final.

Evans and Williams went first but Jonny Perrott saw his penalty well saved by Dean Edwards.

With the next eight penalties scored it was left to Callum Thomas to take the decisive penalty and he made no mistake to win it for Seaside.

The other penalty scorers for Seaside were Steve Stone, Dion Davies, Jack Watkin and Mikey Charles.
