Swifts too good for Milford

MONKTON Swifts remain top of Division 1 after they eased to a 5-0 win over Milford United on Saturday (Feb 9), thanks to a hat trick from Dylan Davies.

The Swifts opened the scoring with 25 minutes gone as a cross from out wide was knocked in by Davies.

He then doubled his side’s lead as he picked the ball up on the wing before coming inside and curling a shot round the keeper from the edge of the box.

It was 2-0 at the break and it was soon 3-0 in the second half as Ryan Griffiths crossed the ball in before Davies scored to complete his hat trick.

Their fourth goal came as Chris Richards picked up the ball on the edge of the box and fired into the top corner right-footed.

Substitute Dan Scourfield then completed the scoring with fifteen minutes left as he went one on one with the Milford keeper and slotted the ball home.

Monkton were comfortable from then on and they saw the game out while their keeper did not have too much to do.

The Division 1 leaders remain a point ahead of nearest challengers Goodwick with both teams having played the same amount of games.

On Saturday (Feb 16), Monkton Swifts are away to Narberth while Milford United are next in action on Saturday, February 23, when they host Saundersfoot Sports.
