Ferney double sinks Pennar

CAREW’s Scott Ferney scored twice to help his side to a 2-0 victory over Pennar Robins on Saturday (Feb 9).

After a tight first half the game was still 0-0 with only a couple of chances for both teams.

Sam Christopher attempted to lob the Pennar keeper but saw his effort go just over while Stuart James also made a good save.

At the other end, Dano Kitts saw a free kick brilliantly saved as the Carew keeper pushed the ball round the posts.

Connor Roberts also hit the bar with a free kick and Ben Adams also came close but neither side was able to open the scoring.

Carew then went 1-0 nil up ten minutes into the second half when a Shaun Whitfield long throw came back out to him and he then hit a low hard cross which found Scott Ferney to smash home for his first of the game.

The Rooks doubled their lead soon after when a long Whitfield free kick was headed by Jack Christopher to brother Sam who struck towards goal for Ferney to finish off for his second of the game.

The win for Carew moves them back up to third in the table and on Saturday (Feb 16), they are at home to fourth placed Hakin United in what should be an excellent match.

Pennar will look to bounce back as they travel to bottom side Herbrandston.
