Thomas’ century earns win for Lawrenny

LAWRENNY moved up to fourth place in Division 1 on Saturday (May 25) as they beat Burton by 121 runs.

Lawrenny batted first and made an impressive total of 282-5 before going on to bowl their opponents out for 161.

The visitors had Harry Thomas to thank as he made a superb contribution with a score of 100.

He was well supported by Steve Lewis who scored 80 and Kurtis Marsh who added 42.

Burton’s Dan Ridge was the pick of the bowlers as he took two wickets for the loss of 38 runs.

Luke Hayman also took two but was expensive as he conceded 72 runs. Morgan Scale also picked up a wicket for the hosts.

In reply, Burton had scores of 31 from Luke Hayman and 37 from Toby Hayman. Morgan Scale also batted well as he scored 53 but it wasn’t enough to see them to victory.

Three wickets for Kurtis Marsh (3-41) and Rob Williams (3-32) kept Burton at bay.

Brad McDermott-Jenkins also claimed two wickets for the loss of 31 runs to help Lawrenny to a big victory.

The win for Lawrenny gives them 30 points while Burton pick up six for their efforts.

On Saturday (Jun 1), Lawrenny are at home to Haverfordwest while Burton are away to Cresselly.
