Town ease to win over Saundersfoot

HAVERFORDWEST earned their fourth win of the season on Saturday (Jun 25) as they beat Saundersfoot by 10 wickets.

At a windy Racecourse, Haverfordwest won the toss and chose to field and that proved a good decision as they bowled Saundersfoot out for 63.

Saundersfoot lost Danny Caine early on when he was caught by Jake Merry off the bowling of Archie Thomas and wickets continued to fall at regular intervals.

Merry also took the catch to dismiss Sam Franklin, giving Johnny White his first wicket, and Jack Franklin was run out as the visitors were reduced to 28-3.

It was soon 33-5 though as Simon Stanford, who had scored 21, was bowled by Thomas and Danny Brace was out for a duck to White.

Clive Tucker bowled Iorri Richard and Neil Powling as Saundersfoot’s score worsened to 41-7.

Josh Samuel had made a score of 17 but he was then caught by Dai Davies off the bowling of Will Phillips.

The ninth wicket then fell in strange fashion. Will Phillips’ throw to keeper appeared too hight but he was able to catch the ball and throw it down onto the stumps, running out Rhys Richards in the process.

Will Phillips then bowled Kevin Sykes to bring Saundersfoot’s innings to a close.

Mikey Jones and James Marchant were then untroubled as they guided Town to a comfortable win.
