Williams: ‘It’s been a hard year’

SCARLETS’ fullback Liam Williams says the last year has been a ‘nightmare’ with injuries hampering his season on both an international and regional level.

Now back to full fitness and ‘raring to go’ Williams is looking forward to getting back out on the field at the Principality Stadium on Saturday (Apr 30) when Scarlets take on Newport Gwent Dragons in the fourth instalment of Judgement Day.

Speaking earlier this week Williams said: “It’s been very frustrating. I’ve only played 60 minutes for the Scarlets this season except the 80 minutes on the weekend; I haven’t played a lot of rugby.

I’m really looking forward to getting back out on the park now.

“To come back after the Six Nations and be injured again was an absolute nightmare but I’m back now, it was great to be back here at Parc y Scarlets and I’m looking forward to the next two games.”

Scarlets have it all still to do to ensure a place in the Guinness PRO12 play-offs having experienced defeat at home against Cardiff Blues and Glasgow Warriors.

The defeat to Glasgow saw the Scarlets fall out of the top four for the first time this season. Williams went on to say; “It’s huge for us boys to be in the top four. We just need to get two wins from the remaining games and hopefully we’ll make top four.”
