16-year-old arrested following suspicious house fire

POLICE have confirmed that a 16-year-old girl has been arrested following a house fire in Burry Port on Tuesday (Jul 10).

The blaze, on Mansel Street, which led to one woman being hospitalised, is being treated as suspicious.

A spokesperson for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: “On Tuesday at 09:27am, crews from Llanelli, Kidwelly and Gorseinon attended a property fire in Mansel Street, Burry Port.

“A detached property, measuring 10 meters x 15 meters, was well alight and extinguished by firefighters using four breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, two thermal imaging cameras, one covering jet, a 10-meter ladder and a positive pressure ventilation fan.

“A female casualty was conveyed to hospital by the Ambulance Service.

“The Fire Service received a stop message at 11:42am.”

A police spokesperson said:  “Dyfed-Powys Police is investigating a house fire at Mansel St, Burry Port which was reported at 9.45am on Tuesday the 10th of July 2018.

“There has been an increased police presence in Mansel St which will continue into Wednesday 11th of July 2018.

“A 16 year old female is in police custody having been arrested in connection with this incident.
