FOLLOWING calls from Ciliau Aeron County Councillor, John Lumley and Assembly Member, Elin Jones, the Welsh Government is to provide £40,000 of investment in order to vastly improve pedestrian safety between Rhiwgoch and Aberaeron.
In a statement summarising Local Transport Grant Allocations by the Welsh Government’s Transport and Infrastructure Minister, Ken Skates AM, notes that i£40,000 is to be given in order to provide a footway link between Rhiwgoch and Aberaeron and also to provide cycle shelters at two schools.
Elin Jones AM, said: “I’m glad that the Welsh Government has committed to the funding of this project. This funding will go a long way towards improving pedestrian safety in Rhiwgoch, and in helping children in the area get safely to their schools.
“I’d like to thank and congratulate all of the campaigners in the area who have called for support in this case, including Cllr John Lumley. This work is scheduled to take place in the upcoming financial year, and I hope that it will take place quickly and efficiently.”
Ciliau Aeron County Councillor, John Lumley, said: “I’m very pleased to hear that the Welsh Government has earmarked £40,000 for phase one of developing a safe footpath through Rhiwgoch.
“I’d like to thank the community for their support and especially to our AM, Elin Jones. Thank you also to Henfynyw Community Council for contributing £3000 towards the cost of the project and to Aberaeron Town Council for contributing £1000.”
