shutterstock_417673207A MAN from Ammanford has been charged for trying to smuggle a large quantity of cocaine worth £100,000 in Gatwick airport.

Officers stopped and arrested Robert Morris, 27, after finding 2kg of cocaine in his suitcase.

He appeared before Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, September 8, where no formal plea was entered. The man from Myffynfych, Tirydail, denied that he knew the drug was in his suitcase at the time on his return from Tabago.

He was denied bail by District Judge Karen Hammond, citing that he could face a substantial jail term if convicted.

Morris faces one charge of trying to import a prohibited substance and was remanded in custody. He will next appear at Croydon Crowd Court on October 13.
