Body of 42-year-old man found near the village of Brechfa

POLICE are investigating a sudden death after the body of a 42-year-old man was discovered in Carmarthenshire.

The cause of death has not yet been confirmed.

The body was found near the village of Brechfa last Thursday morning. The man has been named locally as 42-year-old Stuart Thomas, from Lower Brynaman.

Emergency services were called to a rural area to the north of the village of Brechfa last Thursday morning and the body was later discovered in the Brechfa Forest. The Herald understands that rescue boats from Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene and assisted police in the operation.

HM Coroner has been notified of the death and an inquest has been opened and adjourned to a later date.

A spokeswoman for the police told The Carmarthenshire Herald: “We are investigating the sudden death of a 42-year-old man from Neath Port Talbot, whose body was found in Brechfa Forest, Carmarthen, on Thursday morning (March 28).

The spokeswoman added: “His death is not being treated as suspicious. Next of kin and HM Coroner have been informed.”
