Bus punctuality 100%

buspunctBUS operators in the Carmarthen area have had their punctuality praised by a Welsh- Government-backed focus group.

In a recent study, 100% punctuality was recorded over a 2 1/2 hour period. The exercise was carried out at the Blue Street bus station, and involved monitoring 51 bus movements.

The Compliance Officer described the hundred-percent punctuality as ‘amazing.’ Punctuality in this context meant that every bus was less than one minute early, and less than five minutes late.

He went on to praise the operators, who included First Cymru, Richards Brothers, Bysiau Cwm Taf, Morris Travel, and Silcox Coaches. “This really is an excellent reflection of the many operators using the station,” he added.

His views were backed by Carmarthenshire County Council’s Head of Transport, Stephen Pilliner, who said: “I would like to congratulate the bus operators in Carmarthen on the results of the monitoring exercise carried out by Bus Users UK Cymru. The bus operators continually offer the highest standard of service and punctuality.”

Bus Users Cymru works with partners including Welsh government, local authorities and bus companies across the country, to drive up standards in bus travel and put the needs of bus passengers at the heart of transport policy.

Each year in Wales approximately 116 million passenger journeys are made by bus, and bus travel accounts for around 80% of all public transport journeys.
