Cross Hands company creates 60 new posts

60 new jobs: NR Evans.

OVER 60 new jobs have been created after a Cross Hands food distributor undertook a large expansion.

As one of the biggest temperature-controlled distribution companies in the world, the Cross Hands firm deliver more than £500m worth of chilled products every year. With seven operating centres in Carmarthenshire, Newport, the West Midlands, Anglesey, Bedford, Derbyshire and Bridlington, NR Evans are a big name in the distribution world.

NR Evans, with the support of a lending facility from Lloyds Bank, have undergone a £3m expansion.

The Senior Regional Manager at Lloyds Bank Commercial Finance, Richard Stevenson, commented: “We worked closely with NR Evans to provide the business with the right funding solution to help it facilitate its growth plans without impacting on its daily cash flow. We have a lot of experience in the sector and understand the need for business to operate a top of the range fleet, and look forward to working with the business to support its growth plans.”

Paul Williams, the Relationship Director at Lloyds Banks Commercial Banking, added: “Growing, ambitious businesses like NR Evans with a clear plan for continued expansion are the driving force of the UK economy, and we’re proud to support companies like this as they create new jobs and invest in the future of their business.”

The firm have obtained more than 200 vehicles, purchasing 18 new HGVs and 15 refrigerated vehicles. Thanks to a hire purchase facility, the business were able to pay for the vehicles in full, so their cash flow will not be affected.

The firm are now able to take on much bigger contracts with more than 400 members of staff.

The managing director of the company, Neil Evans, has said that he is pleased to have completed the latest stage of growth, commenting: “As part of this, we’re proud to have created 60 new roles within our business throughout our seven operating centres, helping to support local employment in the regions in which we operate.”
