Cardigan body builder turned to cocaine

swansea crown courtBODY BUILDER Kenny Jones from Cardigan turned to cocaine to help with his fitness regime, he told a jury on Monday (Aug 8).

Police found 44 grams of the drug when they searched his home in Heol y Felin, Penparc.

Jones, aged 37, admitted the drugs were his but denied any intent to sell them on.

Jones was cleared of possessing cocaine with intent to supply but fined £500 for possessing the drug.

A jury at Swansea Crown Court heard how police found two quantities of cocaine at 46% purity plus weighing scales showing traces of the drug.

Jones said he had spent £900 buying the cocaine “from a local builder” and said he used it as a supplement to help his dieting during the run up to a competition for body builders.

Jones said he would get into trouble for revealing that he had used money he had been supposed to spend on his wedding.

He said he had taken delivery of the drugs on the very morning of the police search.

Jones said he had been running a body building shop in Cardigan at the time but now had a car valet business.

In addition to the fine Jones was ordered to pay £85 in prosecution costs and a £50 court surcharge.
