A CARDIGAN man has finally admitted kicking another man to his head during an attack that left him with a broken eye socket.
Aaron Neil Hopkins, aged 21, of Castle Street, today (Oct 16) attended a plea and case management hearing at Swansea Crown Court one week after he should have done.
Hopkins admitted causing grievous bodily harm to Daniel MacDonald on 22 November.
A plea of not guilty to causing GBH with intent was accepted by the prosecution.
Frank Phillips, prosecuting, said the decision had been taken on the basis that Hopkins’ had admitted gbh “on the full facts” and that included kicking Mr MacDonald as well as punching him twice.
Ian Ibrahim, representing, Hopkins, said he understood that his liberty was in jeopardy.
Judge Huw Davies said, “Well, it is.”
He told Hopkins the offence was a serious one.
“You kicked him while he was on the ground.
“You must prepare yourself and put your affairs in order,” added the judge.
He agreed to postpone sentencing until November 6 to allow time for a probation officer to prepare a report into his background.
But he warned Hopkins not to see that as a message that he would keep his liberty.
“Quite the contrary,” he added.
