Carers give their views on health and well-being

img_0454OVER 60 carers from across Carmarthenshire have expressed their views on what matters to them.

The event was organised by Carmarthenshire Carers Forum, which is working with the new Public Services Board (PSB) to find out more about health and well-being, and what is important to carers.

The PSB is a collection of public bodies working together to improve the well-being of people in Carmarthenshire.

They are carrying out a survey aimed at finding out more about what wellbeing means and what matters most to the residents and communities of Carmarthenshire.

Findings from the survey will be used to help develop the well-being plan for Carmarthenshire which will set out local objectives for improving well-being and detailing the steps the PSB will take to meet them.

People aged between 25 and 85 attended the forum held at the Selwyn Samuel Centre last week.

Manon Gravell introduced the theme for the day. Manon is the daughter of rugby legend Ray Gravell, and launched Project 13 after his death, to give young people who are grieving over the loss of a loved one, support and a place to turn to.

Carmarthenshire’s executive board member for social care Cllr Jane Tremlett said: “It was pleasing that so many carers attended the event and shared their views on health and well-being, and what matters to them.

“This is very valuable information which will be used to form policy for the future.

“There was a very good response to the consultation and feedback was positive about the event.”
