FOLLOWING its triumphant return last year, Carmarthen Carnival will be hitting the streets on Saturday (May 27).
From vintage tractors, local organisation performances, and marching bands, organisers say it will ‘certainly be a treat for all’.
The Grand Parade leaves St Catherine’s Walk at 12 noon and will meander through the town’s streets, taking in St Catherine Street, Market Way, Mansel Street, Lammas Street, Guildhall Square, Hall Street and Nott Square.
“We are truly delighted to have such an amazing parade all around the town,” explained Carmarthen Carnival organiser Jessica Shore.
“Local pubs, youth groups, vintage tractors and modified cars are all coming out to raise awareness of our pledge to support the ongoing work of the Carmarthenshire Water Safety Partnership.”
Carmarthen Castle will host entertainers in the afternoon from 12 noon to 4pm. Forge Drama, Celtique Twirlers and many more local celebrities will be singing and performing. This year the event organisers have wanted to bring the carnival right into the heart of the town and it will be an amazing atmosphere and true celebration of all things local.

Guildhall Square will be hosting an amazing funfair for children, with rides and attractions from 10am. The vintage tractors and modified cars will be on display in King Street from 12pm onwards.
The Carmarthen Symphonic Wind Band and the Swansea Pipe Band will return again this year to march through the town and play their favourite tunes.
“St Catherine’s Walk are proud to support this great community day,” explained John Nash, Manager at St Catherine’s Walk. “Last year was so successful, and this year will be even better with St Catherine’s walk hosting two hours of live music from these great local bands.”
