A MAN who was caught driving twice while under the influence of drugs has been banned from getting behind the wheel for three years.
Dyfed-Powys Police officers stopped a Hyundai Tucson being driven by Jonathon Myles Griffiths at Barn Lake Point on February 9.
During the stop check, a small amount of cannabis was found in the driver’s side door pocket. The 47-year-old was swabbed and gave a positive indication for cannabis.
He was arrested on suspicion of drug driving and possession of cannabis, and was taken to Haverfordwest custody.
During interview, he admitted the drug was his and said it had been a Christmas present.
Pembrokeshire Roads Policing Unit, said: “A decision was made to try and help the offender by putting him on a diversionary scheme, rather than going down the criminal route, however he did not comply with the conditions, and was caught driving under the influence of cannabis again.”
On March 18, Griffiths was stop checked by Carmarthenshire Roads Policing Unit at Foelgastell.
Due to his mannerisms and behaviour, he was swabbed and again gave a positive indication for cannabis.
Analysis of Griffiths’ blood samples showed him to be over the cannabis limit on February 9, and over the limit for cannabis and benzoylecgonine on March 18.
Griffiths, of Carmarthen, appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates’ Court on Monday, August 10, where he was disqualified from driving for three years.
