A 46 YEAR-OLD from Capel Road in Llanelli pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly in a public place at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on March 12. Prosecuting, Ellie Morgan told the court that calls were made concerning Mark Hanna at around 1am on February 10. Police Officers had found the defendant staggering down the centre of a road when they arrived at 1.18am.
He repeatedly told the officers to ‘f**k off’! He smelt strongly of alcohol and his words were slurred. Eventually, the officers were able to calm Hanna down and they brought him home. The defendant then called the police at 1.54am. When the officers arrived, he was on the pavement outside, shouting, ‘I want a job, give me a f***ing job’! and aggressively questioning why the officers would not give him a ‘f***ing job’.
Hanna was then arrested for being drunk and disorderly. Kate Williams, defending Hanna, said that the defendant fully accepted the incident even though he does not really remember the night in question. Williams told the court that the defendant has a problem when he drinks too much, and this is reflected in his criminal record.
Hanna recently lost his job as a result of his drinking. He fully apologises for his actions and he is hoping to get back into work as soon as possible. Magistrates issued a two-year-long conditional discharge, even though a previous conditional discharge three years prior did not work out. “Perhaps you’re older and wiser this time,” Magistrates said. They also suggested that the defendant betters his spending to get out of his alcohol problems.
