Fire service tackle property fire in Carmarthen

fireA FIRE in a property on Water Street in Carmarthen prompted a large emergency service response in town this afternoon (Sep 5).

At around 2:30pm, nearly a dozen emergency services were backed up on to Lammas Street, including Dyfed-Powys Police, Welsh Ambulance Service and Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue.

A spokesperson for the fire service said: “We are currently in attendance at Water Street. Two appliances from Carmarthen are attending a property fire.”

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson added: “We were called at about 2.35pm by our colleagues at Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service to reports of a fire at an address on Water Street, Carmarthen.

“An emergency ambulance and a rapid response vehicle attended and a woman was given treatment at the scene, but did not need to be conveyed to hospital.”

A Dyfed-Powys Police spokesperson also said: “Police were called to a report of a kitchen fire in Water Street Carmarthen shortly after 2.30pm this afternoon (5th September).

“The occupant of the property was treated by paramedics.

“Occupants of nearby properties evacuated as a precaution and later returned.”
