Fishguard to Rosslare ferry service suspended

THE FERRY service that runs between Fishguard and Rosslare has been cancelled until April 12.

Stena Line have confirmed that due to the suspension of P&O’s services into Northern Ireland, they have temporarily suspended the crossing between Fishguard and Rosslare to cover the shortfall and alleviate food supply issues.

A spokesperson for Stena Ferry, Simon Palmer said: “Due to the suspension of P&O’s services into Northern Ireland there were supply fears in the region.”

The Stena Nordica has been drafted in to add additional ferry capacity, which has left a ship shortage.

Stena Europe – which covers the Fishguard and Rosslare route has been sent to cover the Nordica on the Holyhead to Dublin route.

Customers are being urged to book the service from Pembroke Dock instead, stating that Irish Ferries will be accepting Stena Line customers.

Mr Palmer added: “The issue is also compounded by the timing of the crisis happening during our annual dry-docking period, where our ships take turns going into the shipyard for a makeover.

“Otherwise we would’ve had a spare ship. The Stena Horizon from our Cherbourg route is currently in dry-dock, with that route being covered by the vessel Stena Estrid, which has been moved from her normal route on Holyhead to Dublin.”

The service is expected to resume on April 12.
