International duty for Carms bowlers

Captain fantastic: David Kingdon who captained the Welsh Team

FIVE Carmarthenshire bowlers have been flying the flag for Wales on international duty recently.

The two ladies and three men, who all play for Llanelli IBC, were picked for the Home International Series held in Stanley, County Durham.

Former Welsh indoor president Barbara Griffiths and clubmate Hilary Bevan played in the ladies team which finished third after narrowly missing out on the runners-up spot, while David Kingdon had the honour of captaining the men’s side twenty-five years after gaining his first national cap at junior level. The honour follows a successful outdoor season in 2014 when he was crowned British Isles singles champion.

The team also featured Aled Howells and Colin Davies. Sadly, despite their best efforts, the men finished fourth behind England, Scotland and Ireland.
