Motorcyclist, 66, dies in collision with car on the A483 near Llandrindod Wells

Police tape at scene of shooting of WPCs Nicola Hughes and Fiona BoneDYFED-POWYS POLICE have confirmed that a 66 year old male motorcyclist has died at the scene of an accident near Llandrindod Wells.

The accident involved a motorbike and a car on the A483 Llandrindod Wells to Llanbister road and happened around 11.35am on Saturday (April 4).

The road remained closed while police investigated the scene.

In a statement, Dyfed-Powys Police urged anyone who witnessed this incident to contact them immediately by calling 101.

On Easter Sunday,  a further statement was released. It reads: “Dyfed-Powys Police can confirm that the motorcyclist who died in a road traffic collision on the A483 today (Saturday, April 4) was 66-year-old David Stevenson from Llandrindod Wells.”

“Mr Stevenson was a member of a local motorcycle enthusiast club and was out on the club’s traditional Easter ride with other motorcyclists at the time of the collision with a Renault Clio car . Two females from the Renault Clio were conveyed to hospital for examination, but were unhurt. Our thoughts are with Mr Stevenson’s family at this sad time, who are being supported by specially trained officers.”

“The road re-opened at 5.45pm yesterday.”

The 64-year-old male also involved in the incident was taken to Morriston Hospital and his condition is not life threatening.

Stephen’s family has paid tribute to him at this tragic time:

“Stephen was a lovely, honest, caring son, brother and uncle who will be sorely missed. He moved from Liverpool to Aberystwyth as a mature student to study politics and philosophy and never went back home again because he loved Aberystwyth so much. He applied to be a HGV driver with Aberystwyth Council and remained in the town. Stephen was a keen motorcyclist who loved the countryside and he loved Wales.”
