TV PRESENTER Iolo Williams and The Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales (WTSWW) will attempt to create a new World Record to celebrate 20 years of marine conservation in New Quay, Ceredigion.
The record attempt will aim to create the world’s largest human superpod in the shape of a dolphin on Saturday, September 24 on the Main Beach, New Quay Harbour at 11am. The Wildlife Trust is advising any potential record breakers to arrive by 10.30am. To make their human superpod look like a dolphin they also ask that you wear a blue or grey top, dolphin masks will be provided on the day.
Iolo Williams, TV Presenter and Wildlife Champion said: “I am delighted to be launching the 20 year celebrations and World Record Attempt with The Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales. The charity manages some of the region’s most precious wild places and their Cardigan Bay Marine Wildlife Centre (CBMWC) is the focus for marine conservation in the area. This event is a celebration of 20 years of marine conservation in New Quay and what better way to mark this achievement with a world record attempt.”
Cardigan Bay Marine Wildlife Centre was established in 1996 as a non-profit organisation dedicated to conserving the marine life of Cardigan Bay through research and education. In April 2015, CBMWC became part of The Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales (WTSWW) and are delivering the Trust’s Living Seas Programme.
Gina Gavigan, Marketing and Development Manager for The Wildlife Trust said: “As part of the 20 year celebrations we will be holding a day of free marine-themed events and activities to accompany the world record attempt which are suitable for the whole family. The event will highlight not only the importance of marine conservation in New Quay but also our vital Living Seas work. We are asking all ‘dolphin wannabes’ to register their attendance for the world record attempt on our website”.
