Man pleads guilty for breaching Covid-19 regulations

Owain Rhys Worgan, 18-years-old, from Llanelli, pleaded guilty at Swansea Magistrates Court on Monday 20th April,  for breaching Covid-19 regulations.

He had previously been served with 6 fixed penalty notices for breaching Covid-19 restrictions.

Worgan will appear in court in early June for sentencing.

He was also charged with two counts of assaulting an emergency worker. He pleaded not guilty to these offences and will appear in court at a later date.

Llanelli Sergeant Phillip Jones said

“While our aim is to engage with the public who still travel on non-essential business there is a time when we have to take enforcement action. I want to assure those who continue to breach Covid-19 restrictions that we will have no hesitation in enforcing our powers as we have done in this case. I hope that this serves as reassurance for our communities that officers are conducting high visibility patrols, engaging with those who are out and about and using the powers given to us in the new legislation proportionately.

The message is clear; Stay Home and Save Lives.”
