Milford Haven: Council ask public’s opinion on primary schools

PEMBROKESHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL are asking for the opinions of Milford Haven parents, carers and householders regarding the current state of primary education. These views will aid the council’s investigation into the ways in which Milford’s primary schools can be improved.

The primary education review will be focussed on Meads Nursery and Infants School, Milford Haven Junior School and St Francis RC School.

Topics which are up for debate include the issue of over-crowding within Milford primary schools and the lack of substantial Welsh-medium provision. Also to be discussed is the split between infant and junior schools, as Milford Haven is one of the few remaining towns in the county with separate schools for each section of primary education.

With these topics in mind, the council have created a document outlining details of current provisions on offer, as well as a selection of improvement ideas to be deliberated amongst parents and the wider community.

From Monday (Feb 22) until Friday April 1, the document and a response form will be available online atwww.pembrokeshire.gov.uk/haveyoursay.

The council welcomes as many responses as possible and urges anyone in the area with or without children in primary school to voice their opinion, as the outcome of the review will have an effect on the next generation’s educational future.

A meeting has also been arranged by the council to discuss these topics further and will be held on Tuesday March 1 at Milford Haven Comprehensive School from 6:30pm until 8pm.
