Matthew Griffiths: The 24-year-old needs a new wheelchair

A WOMAN from Milford Haven has started a fundraising campaign to help buy her disabled brother a new wheelchair and recliner.

Matthew Griffiths, 24, was born with Spastic Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy and severe learning difficulties.

His sister, Emma Clayton, has now started a JustGiving campaign to try and raise the funds needed to buy him a brand new electric wheelchair and reclining chair.

Her goal is £3,000.

She says: “Due to limited funding, Matthew is only entitled to one wheelchair, which at the moment is a years old heavy to push, manual chair which quite frankly has seen better days!”

Emma hopes that the funding will also cover the servicing costs of both chairs.

Matthew lives with his parents who are his full-time carers.

Emma says: “He always has a smile on his face and makes friends with everyone he meets, he is in a lot of pain with his hips and has undergone numerous painful operations to try to re-align his hips, which unfortunately have been unsuccessful.”
