Miniature train set to restart “soon” at Pembrey

pembreyTHE MINIATURE train which de-railed at Pembrey Country Park on Thursday (Aug 18) which injured 13 adults and children is set to restart “soon”, volunteers at the park say.

Following the accident, an adult and three children were transported to hospital, with the rest being treated at the site for minor injuries.

The attraction at the park is managed by the Llanelli and District Model Engineers, who said they were “extremely saddened and shocked” by the accident.

Rob Rayner, vice chairman of the organisation, said: “Our thoughts are with those who suffered injuries during this incident. Thankfully we are led to believe that they are not serious and wish them a speedy recovery.

“The group, which is made up entirely of volunteers, have run and developed this public facility for over 30 years, and it has an excellent safety record, carrying thousands of passengers and generations of families.

“We hope to re-open the railway soon and welcome families back to this popular attraction within the country park.”

Following the incident the site was inspected by Health and Safety Executive staff.
