MP wins safety review of dangerous road

A SAFETY review is to be carried out on a dangerous section of county road following calls for action from Simon Hart MP.

The A4075 that stretches between Whitehill and Cresselly has a staggered junction crossing the main road, a primary school and an awkward bend, however there is no speed limit through the village – so cars can legally travel at 60mph.

Mr Hart wrote to local residents to find out their opinion and many wrote back highlighting experiences of terrifying near misses and even collisions.

“These were all sent on to Pembrokeshire County Council Highways department and I am delighted to say that they have now agreed to carry out a safety review of the section,” said Mr Hart.

“I have been told that a site meeting has taken place with the police and that a speed limit and road safety review will be carried out. Speed surveys will be taken and looked at alongside data about collisions and injuries. This information will then be used to decide whether further intervention – including possible engineering measures are necessary.

“This is extremely encouraging news and I am delighted that the council is listening to the local community.  I hope that we will soon see measures taken to slow the traffic down on this section.”
