Norman’s jump brings joy

screen-shot-2016-11-17-at-15-57-58ON SATURDAY (Oct 22), Cwmaman resident Norman Raeburn completed a parachute jump in aid of the x-Ray unit in Amman Valley hospital, which is the Mayor’s charity for the year.

Norman and his wife, Carole, along with Cwmaman Mayor Cllr Kevin Madge, arrived in Swansea airport at around midday. Several other people were preparing to do their jumps, seeing them being suited up in the appropriate equipment and undertaking some training of what they would experience in the aircraft and what their instructor would need them do to.

After the jump, Norman told us: “It was a fantastic and enthralling experience. I did it to help raise money for the X-ray unit in Amman Valley hospital. The response I’ve had is fantastic; I’ve had tremendous support in the village, with a majority sponsoring me to do the jump. I hope to do another one next year!”

Through sponsorship, Norman has raised a considerable amount of money; however, the exact figure isn’t yet known.

Cwmaman Mayor Cllr Kevin Madge said: “I’m delighted that he’s raised money for the Mayor’s charity; he’s gone the extra mile! He’s raising money and awareness of the charity and if everybody did what Norman did, we would have the money. I would like to thank Norman personally for his efforts. The work continues and we will raise more over the year, and thank you to everybody who has raised money for the cause.”
