CLLR GUY ANDERSON has been elected as the new Town Councillor for the Pennar ward in Pembroke Dock.

He has recently returned to Pembrokeshire having lived and worked abroad, including the Football World Cup and Olympic Games.

Cllr Anderson said he hoped to take an active role in the town and considers Pembroke Dock as the most important town of the county.

Cllr Guy Anderson told the Herald: “I am delighted to have been selected as a new Town Councillor for Pennar.

“For the last 10 years l have been living abroad in countries such as Brazil, South Africa and China, where I was working on events such as the FIFA World Cups and Olympic Games but l have always considered Pembrokeshire as my Home.

“To me, Pembroke Dock is the most important town in the County and is ideally located to take full advantage of the beaches, cliffs, woodlands, moors and Preseli ‘mountains’ – all of which are within a short distance of here.

“Pembroke Dock was the only Welsh Royal Dockyard and should be benefiting from its 200 years of intense history and heritage, however, it has always struck me each time l have returned to the town that it almost seems embarrassed of its strengths.

“Pembroke Dock was a military town founded in a time of war, patriotic fervour and technological revolution.

“Personally l think it is time to recognise and embrace the past and although that time is long gone it is no less important to todays’ living.

“I want to take an active role in a town that l admire and look forward to working alongside those who are endeavouring to make a difference to The ‘Dock.”
