Police appeal as woman who was badly burned in chip shop dies

A 69-YEAR-OLD woman who died during an incident at a chip shop in Hermon has been named locally as Mavis Bran.

A 70-year-old man has been arrested in suspicion of assault and has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

The incident happened on Tuesday, October 23, and police are appealing for witnesses.

The Welsh Air Ambulance transported Mrs Bran to Morriston Hopsital in Swansea.

A spokesperson for the police force said: “Police are continuing to investigate after a 69-year-old woman sadly passed away at Morriston Hospital on Monday, October 29. She was taken to hospital following an incident at the Chipoteria chip shop in Hermon, Carmarthenshire, at around 1.30pm on Tuesday, October 23.

“A 70-year old man was arrested on suspicion of assault in connection with the incident. He has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

“Anyone who visited the chip shop between 12pm and 3pm on Tuesday, October 23, is asked to contact Dyfed-Powys Police.
