Police renew murder suspect appeal, arrest man for assisting offender

A FURTHER arrest has been made in the Dyfed-Powys Police investigation into the death of Simon Clark, which was reported to police on Friday (Sept 28).

A 52-year-old man was arrested yesterday (Oct 3) in the Newport area on suspicion of assisting an offender and is currently in police custody.

However, Steve Baxter, aged 52 (also known as Steve Rowley; Wayne Tidy; William Tidy), remains wanted on suspicion of murder and police are continuing their search for this man.

A further photograph of the suspect has been released by police today (Oct 4).

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Jones, leading the investigation, said: “We are keen to trace Steve Baxter as soon as possible as he is considered to be a dangerous individual. While we know he was in the Bridgend area last Friday we are aware that he has connections in the West Wales, South Wales and South West England areas. I would urge anyone who has information as to his whereabouts to contact police on 999 as soon as possible. Please do not approach him.”

Three people remain in police custody: a 40-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder, a 52-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, and a 46-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact police on 101.
