Police support Morgan’s Fight with charity football match

POLICE officers and staff will battle it out on the football pitch as they support a fundraising effort for a Whitland schoolboy this week.

A tournament is set to take place at Carmarthen Leisure Centre from 5pm to 8pm tomorrow (Sept 8) raising funds for Morgan’s Fight.

Confirmed teams so far include the Joint Investigation Unit, neighbourhood policing teams, senior management teams, Special Constables, and the ambulance service.

Morgan’s Fight aims to raise £100,000 towards treatment for six-year-old Morgan Hayes, who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma two years ago.

Carmarthenshire Superintendent Gary Mills said: “We are making every effort to support Morgan’s Fight, which is a campaign that has touched our hearts.

“We hope to see a good crowd on Friday evening to help us raise as much as we can.”

Carmarthen NPT officers visited Morgan and other children at Glangwili Hospital last week to take their mind off their treatment.

The Roads Policing Unit took two cars for the children to sit in, and they were able to make fingerprint keyrings to remember the visit. They also tried on officers’ uniforms and had a Q&A session.
