cameronTHE WELSH GOVERNMENT has today (Aug 31) pledged to improve the safety where Cameron Comey went missing in February 2015.

Cameron, who would have been celebrating his 13th birthday today, was playing at the location known as the 22 with his younger brother when he tragically fell into the water.

His body has never been recovered.

The Welsh Government has since met with members of the Carmartheshire Water Safety partnership, which includes Cameron’s dad, Damion, and local councillor Pam Palmer.

Following these meetings a budget has now been approved for safety improvements.

The improvements discussed includes clearing trees for improved visibility, as well as adding safety rails, danger signs and life-saving equipment.

Ken Skates AM said in a letter to Adam Whitehouse, chairman of the partnership: “The works identified as part of the review, to help reduce the level of risk at this location, have been awarded funding and will commence as soon as possible during this financial year. My officials are also continuing to liaise with stakeholders regarding preventing access to the area.”
