TWO ewes trapped on a rocky beach have been rescued by the RSPCA.

The ewes had been trapped for several days on the rocky beach near Penally, Tenby. They had no food and were unable to get themselves back up the cliff and off the beach.

The rescue team involved RSPCA animal welfare officer (AWO) Andrew Harris and RSPCA inspectors Gemma Cooper, Nic de Celis and Nigel Duguid.

“We abseiled down the cliff to the beach where the ewes had been trapped for several days,” said AWO Harris.

“The rescue looked straight forward however, it was very physically demanding for all involved.

“But it was a successful outcome as once released on the top of the cliff, the sheep returned to grazing and were uninjured.

“The farmer was informed of the rescue and was very grateful.”
