Tractors: Descending on Llandovery

THE PLACE to be on Sunday (June 4) is Llandovery, when the town plays host to the 2017 Welsh National Tractor Road Run.

The fifth running of this event sees the Llandovery & District Vintage Machinery Society, assisted by the Tractor Clubs of Carmarthenshire, organising the event in aid of three charities: The League of Friends Llandovery Hospital, the British Heart Foundation and the RWAS featured county appeal of Carmarthenshire.

It is a fitting tribute for the Llandovery & District Vintage Machinery Society to be awarded this prestigious event as they are celebrating their 40th anniversary.  They have secured two main sponsors for the event, Cambrian Pet Foods Ltd and Western Farm Services (Knighton) Ltd.

The event sees a record number of tractors entered and after the official start with Jonathan Edwards MP, and the Chairman of Carmarthenshire, Cllr Irfon Jones, at 9:30am, the tractors will parade through Llandovery before they set off on their tour of the country lanes of Carmarthenshire.

The tractor drivers will start arriving on Saturday, from all over Wales and England to participate in the Run, with one participant coming all the way from Ireland.  The Society have thought of everything and in view of the long distances they have laid on an evening of entertainment by the Radnor Twurzels at the Llandovery Rugby Club, where everyone is welcome to attend.

The route will be signposted to the start area, which is on the Church Bank Industrial Estate.  Programmes and details of the route will be available at the start and the lunch break will be Llanwrda Village Hall.
