Tributes paid to 21 year old who died in car collision

guto-pugh-crashGUTO PUGH, a 21 year old man from Pantperthog, has received tributes following a fatal car crash on Saturday morning (Aug 20).

He was on his commute to his job at the Bae Abermaw Hotel in Barmouth when his car was involved in a three vehicle collision at around 7:25am which instantly killed him.

In a statement, the Bae Abermaw Hotel said: “Sadly one of our valued staff members, Guto Pugh, was killed in a tragic accident on the way to work on Saturday morning.

“We would like to extend our condolences to his family and friends at this sad time.

“Guto was an amazing person and he kept us all smiling, he will be sorely missed.”

Cllr John Pughe Roberts, has lead tributes to Guto, saying he was a “very well-liked young man” who will be “dearly missed.”

He continued:  “He was very well known and people were very, very fond of him. This is a terrible tragedy and Guto has been taken far too early. I offer his family and friends my sincerest condolences, the community is reeling.”

A spokesperson for the Bangor University Brass Band, which Guto was the leader of, also said: “We’ve lost a much-loved friend and colleague. The band is devastated by the news of Guto. Our heart goes out to his family at this tragic time.

“If you met Guto you’d know what a gentle, loving and talented person he was. This  is a great loss to the band, the university and the world.”

A community fundraiser has now collected nearly £4,000 to help raise money towards funeral costs for the family.
