Fire service believes Gwynedd gorse fire was started deliberately

A GORSE fire which spread over four acres in Gwynedd last night was “deliberate,” the fire service has confirmed.

The blaze on Cilgwyn mountain, near Carmel, was spotted by local residents at around 8pm yesterday.
The blaze spread across four acres of gorse and grass last night and took around three hours to be extinguished.

Four appliances were in attendance from Caernarfon, Llanberis, Llanfairfechan and Porthmadog.
A specialist wildfire unit from Caernarfon was also sent to the area in Gwynedd in response to the fire, Herald.Wales understands.

A spokesperson for North Wales Fire & Rescue Service said crews remained at the scene until 10.48pm.
They further confirmed earlier that the cause of the fire is understood to have been “deliberate ignition.”
