Menai Suspension Bridge works to continue through Menai Bridge Fair

The essential safety works that have been taking place on the Menai Suspension Bridge since September will be continuing through 24 October 2023 during the Menai Bridge Fair.

The works are critical to improving the safety and integrity of the Menai Suspension Bridge, including allowing all vehicular traffic to once again use the bridge once works are completed, and the programme has been developed to complete as soon as reasonably possible.

Traffic management will operate as normal to allow at least one lane to remain open on the bridge throughout the duration of the works to reduce disruption to local residents and to ensure minimal impact on local community events such as the upcoming Menai Bridge Fair.

Whilst the bridge remains open for use, those attending the fair are reminded to be mindful that traffic management measures will be in place for a single lane closure and should therefore allow for more travel time and plan journeys accordingly. Users are further encouraged to follow Traffic Wales X @trafficWalesN and @TraffigCymruG for the most up to date traffic information.

The traffic lights will be staffed during peak periods AM & PM to prioritise traffic flows where needed and reduce disruption. Operatives will also be present throughout the day, as per the design of the programme, to adjust traffic management if necessary.  These measures are in place for the safety of users of the bridge.

Users are further reminded that the current weight restriction of 7.5T for crossing the bridge will remain in place until all works have been completed.
