BRIDGEND Council have heard the results of a report on four of the borough’s primary schools.
During summer and autumn term of 2022, inspectors from school watchdog Estyn visited Afon y Felin Primary School, Pîl Primary School, Brynmenyn Primary School and Corneli Primary School to assess how they are doing.
A number of recommendations were given to each of the schools, such as “sharpening self-evaluation processes”, or improving the quality of teachers’ feedback. However, all were deemed to be making sufficient progress, with no follow-ups required.
In Corneli Primary School, staff were praised for their work on helping children improve their financial awareness.
At a cabinet meeting on March 14, council officials welcomed the reports.
Cllr Jon Blundell said: “I just want to take this opportunity to thank teachers, students, parents, carers and governors, because without them and their hard work these inspection reports wouldn’t be as positive as they are.
“There are of course recommendations for each school and these will form part of the school’s action plans going forward to continue their professional development.”
