West Wales Cup round up: Morriston and Seaside among teams to progress

MORRISTON Town booked their place in the third round of the West Wales Cup on Saturday (Nov 5), as they beat Cwrt Herbert Colts 7-1.

Taylor Evans put Morriston ahead in the eighth minute and Dylan Scott added a second three minutes later. Samuel Harrison then missed a penalty for Town as the score remained 2-0 until half time.

Evans then grabbed his second goal seven minutes into the second half and Scott did likewise a minute after to make it 4-0.

Connor Thomas then pulled a goal back for the Colts who did not give up despite the scoreline.

Just three minutes later though Scott scored again to complete his hat trick. Goals from David Brown and Niall Hayes completed the scoring.

SEASIDE also went through as they earned a 4-2 win over Llandarcy. An own goal by Luke Payton put Seaside ahead after fifteen minutes and they had further goals from Joel Andrews, Ben Honeybun and Joseph Lloyd. Both sides also had a ment sent off midway through the second half.

SOUTH GOWER went through with a 2-1 win over Pengelli United. The West Wales Premier side took the lead after five minutes through Ieuan Priede but the Carmarthenshire outfit equalised six minutes later through James Richards.

Bruno Morris scored twenty minutes into the second half to put South Gower ahead. Pengelli had a man sent off with thirteen minutes to go and the Gower were able to see the game out.

NEATH TOWN earned a 6-2 win over Penclawdd. Mark Buckney put Penclawdd ahead in the first minute but goals from Levi Waters, James Figgures made it 2-1 to Neath with only five minutes played.

On 14 minutes it was 2-2 as Luke Dark levelled the game. However, Waters added a second on the half hour mark to put Neath back into the lead.

An early second half own goal made it 4-2 to Neath and red card for Penclawdd’s Daniel Keefe did not help their cause. Waters then completed his hat trick with 11 minutes to go and Nathan Morris rounded off the scoring.

FC Bonymaen earned a 3-2 win over Cimla, St Josephs FC beat St Thomas Stars 15-1 and Evans and Williams also went through with a 4-1 win over Blaen-y-Maes.

Cilfrew Rovers booked their place in the third round after beating Birchgrove Colts on penalties. Their game finished 2-2 after extra time but the Rovers took victory with a 6-5 shootout win.

There are more second round fixtures this weekend after some were called off on Saturday (Nov 5).

Among the fixtures for Saturday, November 12, are Penlan v Bryncoch, Pennar Robins v Loughor, St Clears v Monkton and Ynystawe v Tenby.

Trostre’s game with Hakin United is scheduled for Saturday, November 19.
