St Clears see off St Davids challenge

ST CLEARS remain top of League 3 West A following their 61-7 victory over St Davids on Saturday (Oct 22).

Dan Griffiths scored two tries for St Clears as did Jac Howells. Gareth Jones, Rhodri Evans and Aled Owens were also on target.

They also had a penalty try and a further try from Tom Williams. Dan Griffiths added eight conversions for a personal haul of 26 points.

St Davids were playing with a number of players on permit following several injuries in recent weeks. Players from Milford and Tenby answered their call for help and it was one of those who grabbed their try. Ben Joyce added the extras.

The win for St Clears is their fifth of the season and they sit four points ahead of their nearest challengers (Lampeter and Laugharne) who have both played a game less.

The Saints visit Laugharne in their next league game in November but before that they, and St Davids, are in cup action this weekend.

On Saturday, October 29, St Clears visit Llandeilo in the Division 3 Cup, with both sides having won their opening two games.

St Davids host Nantymoel in Group G.
