Christmas cocaine temptation results in driving ban for Pembrokeshire motorist 15 times over limit

A Pembroke motorist who was tempted to take cocaine at a Christmas party found himself in court this week to face two charges of driving whilst over the legal drug-drive limit.

Police officers stopped Conor Carter driving his Audi A3 in Laugharne Close, Pembroke, in the early hours of December 19.

A roadside drugs wipe proved positive and Carter, 30, was taken to a police custody suite where further tests were carried out.

These confirmed that Conor, of Laugharne Close, Pembroke had been driving with 800 mcg of Benzoylecgonine in his blood (the legal limit is 50) and 65 mcg of cocaine (legal limit 10).

Conor pleaded guilty to two charges of driving whilst over the specified drug-drive limit.

He was represented in court by Mr Michael Kelleher.

“My client very rarely drinks and doesn’t take drugs, but this was during the Christmas period, and he was tempted,” he said.

“He very much regrets doing anything like this.”

After considering the evidence, magistrates disqualified Conor from driving for 18 months. This, they stated, was because of his high reading.

He was fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £48 surcharge.
