Division 2: Tenby win promotion clash with Herbie

TENBY earned a big step towards promotion to Division 1 on Saturday (Apr 15) as they beat Herbrandston 6-2.

Ahead of the game, the sides were separated by only one point and both were keen to get the win on Saturday.

It was Tenby who took the lead through Scott Ferney but Herbie’s Scott Reid equalised from the penalty spot midway through the first half.

Sam Butler put Tenby back ahead and they held on to their 2-1 until half time.

Jack Tucker made it 3-1 two minutes after the restart and Ferney then added his second and Tenby’s fourth to put his side in a strong position.

Reid pulled a goal back just two minutes later but that was as good as it got for the visitors.

Jerome Mansbridge added Tenby’s fifth before Ferney completed his hat trick with his 44th goal of the season.

The two sides do it all again on Tuesday, April 18, in the reverse fixture. Tenby now sit four points ahead of Herbie with three games left while Herbie have two left to play.

A win for Tenby on Tuesday would guarantee their promotion but a win for Herbie keeps them firmly in the hunt.

Elsewhere, Hakin United seconds remain in second place after they beat Narberth 1-0 at the Obs with Ashley Howard getting the only goal of the game.

Broad Haven earned their ninth win of the season on Saturday as they beat Solva 4-2.

Tomas Lawrence put the Haven ahead in the 20th minute and Byron Grey doubled the lead five minutes before the break.

Solva hit back though through Ryan Thomas to give his side hope of getting something from the game.

Grey added a second for Broad Haven on the hour mark but Thomas added his second to make it 3-2.

Solva’s cause was not helped by a red card to Richard Bland and Peter Thomas’ 80th minute penalty sealed the win for the visitors.
