Goodwick stay top after beating Kilgetty

GOODWICK United remain top of Division 1 of the Pembrokeshire League after they beat Kilgetty 4-2 on Saturday (Mar 4).

Goodwick won the reverse fixture between the two sides earlier in the season but they came up against a Kilgetty side who had won their previous three matches.

It wasn’t until the 36th minute that the first goal went in as Dan James set up Rhys Jones to open the scoring for Goodwick United.

And it was a case of roles reversed for the second goal as James scored on the stroke of half time to give the home side a 2-0 lead.

However, just eight minutes into the second half, Josh Bevan pulled a goal back for Kilgetty and the visitors were back in the game.

Any hopes they had of getting something from the game though disappeared in the space of three minutes though as Goodwick scored twice to make it 4-1.

Rhys Dalling scored first in the 73rd minute and Jones then scored his second to all but seal the points for the home side.

Bevan scored a second late on but it was just a consolation for Kilgetty.

On Saturday, March 11, Goodwick United travel to Carew while Kilgetty are at home against Monkton Swifts.
