Community groups across Swansea urged to help youngsters enjoy summer of fun

COMMUNITY groups and organisations across Swansea are being urged to help make it a summer of fun for children, young people and families and older people in our communities.

Swansea Council’s COAST activity grant fund, which is funded by the UK Government Shared Prosperity fund is providing grants of up to £10,000 to voluntary, community groups and other organisations targeted at children, young people their families and older people (50+), who’ve got bright ideas to provide activities and opportunities across holiday periods from Summer until next March.

But the deadline for applications is June 30 and all activities, goods or services must have been delivered by 8 September 2023.

COAST is looking to fund targeted provision to our community members and is unique to Swansea, building on successes of previous programmes Summer of Fun and Winter of Wellbeing, to provide a range of free play, leisure, recreational, sporting and cultural activities.

Alyson Pugh Cabinet Member for Well-Being said “Activities funded through COAST will provide opportunities to support the social, emotional and physical health and wellbeing of the younger generation and their families as well as the older members of the community. Grant applications are particularly welcomed from groups working with people to provide activities which aim to reduce isolation and increase inclusion”.

Applications can also be made by groups or organisations who want to expand their existing programmes or to benefit new members.
